The Director-General of National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC), Brigadier Shuaibu Ibrahim, on Tuesday revealed that the monthly allowance of corps members has been pegged at thirty-three thousand naira following the upward review of the national minimum wage.
He said this while addressing corps members on his working visit to the Bauchi State Secretariat of the scheme.
Before the Director-General cleared the air on the issue, corps members were anxious and different figures were being circulated on the social media.
He added that provision has been made for the new allowance in the 2020 budget and payment would begin once funds are made available by the appropriate quarters.
Ibrahim also enjoined corps members to be security conscious and further warned against rumor mongering and ill usage of social media.
