The UEFA Champions League is one of the most exciting competitions in the World of Soccer. The much anticipated round of 16 draw is here once again, filled with pleasant surprises and heartbreaks. As expected, 16 of the total 32 teams preceded to the next round and consequently drawn. Manchester City will lock horns with Real Madrid, Barcelona will face Napoli, Bayern Munich will play against Chelsea, Valencia against Atalanta, R.B Leipzig against Tottenham. Others include: Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Lyon, PSG and Dortmund are also preparing for a clash.

Here, we shall consider 3 of the above clubs that would disappoint their supporters:

The Spanish club was the runner-up of group D after winning 3 of the total six group-stage games. Diego Simeon’s side will face the defending champions; Liverpool that topped group E. Currently, Atletico Madrid is in the Fifth spot of the La Liga table, having won 41% of their total matches. They score 1.06  goals and concede 0.59 goals per match this season.
On the other hand, Liverpool have won 94% of their Premier League games, scoring 2.47 goals and conceding 0.82 goals per match on average.
Liverpool’s attacking prowess is countered by Atletico Madrid’s defensive strength but the Latter’s inconsistence in the attack is worrisome after losing Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona during the summer, as Liverpool is not bad in the defence too.

Lucien Favre’s side is set to face Paris Saint Germain (PSG), come February 2020. PSG has one the most impressive strike forces in Europe this season with Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani, Mauro Icardi & Neymar Jr leading their attack. Moreover, Dortmund’s former boss, Thomas Tuchel is now PSG head coach, he will not take it easy with the Bundesliga side. PSG is currently leading Ligue 1, scoring 2.29 goals and conceding 0.53 goals per match, they also have 82% match winning rate. While Dortmund is in 4th place, only 4 points behind their League leader, R.B Leipzig. They score 2.50 goals and concede 1.38 goals per match, on average.

Although, PSG has been in latent state in the UEFA Champions League in recent years, Dortmund’s proneness to individual defensive error as seen during their matches against Hoffenheim and Leipzig would be a big advantage for the France-based club.

The West London club have experienced series of ups and downs this season after being banned in the summer transfer window and possibly due to Eden Hazard’s departure. They are currently in the 4th spot of the English Premier League table. They concede 1.47 goals and score 1.82 goals on
average, per match. They are to face their co-finalist of the historic 2011/2012 Champions League, Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich is in spot 4 of Ligue 1, scoring 2.75 goals and conceding 1.38 goals per game, on average. Chelsea’s
result against top flight clubs this season is our deepest concern.

However, “Nothing is impossible for a willing mind” as the winter transfer window is here to make right decisions.
