How N5.2bn Disappeared From Govt Account Within 3 Weeks Under Ajimobi- Seyi Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, Saturday alleged that the last dispensation in the state embezzled 5.2 billion naira that came into the government coffers three weeks to the end of the tenure.

The Governor said this during his quarterly media chat.

According to Makinde, the money came in on May 6th but by May 29, there was only N19,000 left in the account.

He promised to recoup the funds from those behind the embezzlement.

When asked on how he has been able to pay salaries on time and carry out other developmental projects, he noted that his government prioritized the interests of the residents of the state.

He furthered that the Abiola Ajimobi-led administration operated over 60 bank accounts and when he resumed office, he ordered that all the funds be moved to one account.

He also intimated the public that he and his political appointees still use their personal vehicles for official duties.

TheEcho reports that the last administration carted away with all the official vehicles.

Makinde observed that it would cost his government billions to make new purchases.

Makinde also promised that workers in the state will receive 13th-month salary.
