Senator Muhammad Kola Balogun of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday defeated Senator Abiola Ajimobi at the Court of Appeal.
Ajimobi, the immediate ex-governor of Oyo State, challenged the declaration of Balogun as the winner of Oyo South Senatorial District election conducted on February 23.
After the dismissal of the case in Ibadan, Senator Balogun praised the judiciary for being incorruptible.
“I am glad the Judiciary has once again shown that they are the hope of the masses and the foundation of solid democracy. I pray and hope this kind of incorrugibility and high standard can be replicated in all election and other constitutional cases in Nigeria,” he said.
He also appreciated the Governor of the State, Seyi Makinde and other stakeholders of his party for their support.
“I appreciate God for this final victory, Gov Seyi Makinde, the people of Oyo South senatorial district for their prayers and supports, all PDP leaders and members in Oyo State,” he concluded.
