Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Tuesday, promised to give the moribund Agbowo Shopping Complex a turnaround.
The Governor made this known when the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan paid him a courtesy visit.
Describing the multi-billion naira complex as an “eyesore”, Makinde lamented that it was fast becoming a security threat to the university community and its environs.
“I promised a turnaround of the Agbowo Shopping Complex which has become an eyesore and security threat,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.
TheEcho recalls that the Shopping Complex has been neglected by successive governments of the state despite having potentials to bolster the economy of the state.
Makinde also tasked the University to make available its research outcomes to his administration so that they can be used to improve the lives of the residents of the pacesetter state.
“I appealed to them to ensure research outcomes from the university are made available to our administration to be utilised to improve the lives of our people,” he added.
