“What is your interest in Oyo politics?”- Ibadan mogajis ask Tinubu

Family heads in Ibadan, better known as mogajis, Wednesday, questioned the interest of Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state, in the politics of the pacesetter state.

In a statement released by the spokesperson of the group, Wale Oladoja, it urged Tinubu not to create disharmony between the two leading gubernatorial candidates for the forthcoming election in Oyo State.

They made it known that they do not want the involvement of external forces in the affairs of the state.

The mogajis further cautioned former Governor Christopher Alao Akala against speaking ills about the Osi Olubadan, Senator Rashidi Ladoja.

They recalled that both Ogbomoso and Ibadan have always had a friendly relationship and Akala should not soil such due to his political desperation.

The chiefs also noted that the deal between Akala and Tinubu concerning the forthcoming election was an open secret among the residents of the state.

The statement reads in part: “We believe that Ogbomoso and Ibadan are from the same mother, therefore, we don’t expect Akala to cause crisis between the two ancient cities.

“What is the interest of Tinubu in Oyo guber politics? It is open secret that he is instigating two brothers against each other and it is not acceptable to us. The candidates of PDP and APC are our sons and we don’t want external forces to create divisions among them.

“Both of them are gentlemen from Ibadan but we realised that Seyi Makinde is more of a grassroots than his younger brother. Therefore we appeal to our people especially the entire Ibadan indigenes, Ibarapa, Saki, iseyin, Oyo and the entire people of the state to consider the closeness of Seyi Makinde to the grassroots before voting. We implore Adelabu to wait till 2023 to actualise his ambition.”
