Eden Hazard is not enjoying himself lately and there is tension surrounding his future, with the Belgian awaiting a call from Real Madrid to free himself from Chelsea and allow him to announce that he will wear the white shirt next season.
The situation is difficult for the Belgian, as he has always looked to show respect towards the Premier League side, who opted to sign him after being crowned European champions when he was no more than a promising youngster.
It is thought that Hazard knows what his decision will be this summer, but things can change quickly in football and what looks certain in December or February might not happen come summer.
Chelsea’s leaders assume that his decision to reject a new deal, with the club offering to double his current salary, is due to his desire to join Madrid.
Hazard’s current contract will expire on June 30, 2020 and he has never hidden the fact that his dream is to play at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
A deal was sought last summer and the No.10 went to the World Cup thinking he would join Madrid, but Chelsea’s reluctance to let him go for anything under 250 million euros dictated he stayed in London for, at least, one more season.
Roman Abramovich remains adamant that his departure will not be easy and the Russian is demanding at least 100 million euros, which Los Blancos are happy to pay as long as there are some departures from the current squad.
Despite Zinedine Zidane’s exit last summer, Hazard still wants to make the move but Madrid don’t see now as being the right time to push on.
