Why Higuain will flop at Chelsea- Paul Merson reveals

According to former Arsenal star, Paul Merson, AC Milan loanee, Gonzalo Higuain will find it herculean to succeed where Alvaro Morata has failed.

Chelsea have agreed a loan deal with the star for the rest of this season which would be automatically extended for a further 12 months if he meets various targets with the other option of being signed by the West London club as their substantive player.

The Argentina international played just a season under Sarri while the Italian coach was overseeing the affairs of Napoli and that was his most prolific season. He netted a mind-blowing 36 goals in the season which earned him a move to AC Milan, where he has unfortunately been struggling.

However, Merson expressed the fear that the Argentine might not find the going any easier in the Premier League too.

“I’m not sure on him,” Metro UK quoted Merson as saying.

“He was a great player but looks below his best of late. He hasn’t pulled up trees for a while and now he’s coming to the hardest league in the world.

“He won’t have any time to adapt either as he needs to hit the ground running as Chelsea need someone to play as their focal point.

“I’d rather someone that has played in the Premier League before and knows what this league demands.”
