“Vinicius Junior still lacks a bit of lucidity in his decision making” – Tite

Brazilian wonderkid, Vinicius Junior is beginning to make a name for himself at club level with Real Madrid, he isn’t in the plans of Brazil boss Tite yet who feels he still has to be more lucid with his decision making.

The teenager still features at underage level for his country, although he has been prominent in recent weeks at Los Blancos with Santiago Solari in charge.

In fact, Tite confessed that he had even considered calling the player up for his World Cup squad in Brazil before ultimately deciding against it.

“I thought about [the World Cup] but it was a difficult period for him because he was leaving Flamengo at that time,” he told Globoesporte.

“They were the club who developed him and he was going through an adaptation phase at Real Madrid.

“He is yet to have the maturity necessary to be more lucid when it comes to making decisions.

“He is a very good dribbler, particularly in one-on-one situations but he just lacks a little bit of decision making.

“I think he is an individualistic player but he knows how to listen to those around him.”

On the other hand, the Selecao tactician spoke in slightly more flattering terms about another young compatriot who will soon join Vinicius at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Rodrygo.

“He is only 17 but he is already similar to a 25-year-old player,” enthused Tite.

“Jair Ventura [Corinthians coach] told me ‘he looks like a veteran player and is mature in his decision making’.”

Rodrygo will remain in his homeland until next summer and upon turning 18, will follow Vinicius to the Spanish capital.

He has been left out of the Brazil Under-20 squad for their upcoming friendlies.
