Declare my candidate as winner of Ogun APC guber primary or I leave- Amosun dares Oshiomhole

Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, Wednesday threatened to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) if the National Working Committe of the party fails to recognize his anointed candidate, Abdul-Kabir Adekunle Akinlade as the flag-bearer of the party in the state for 2019 elections.

Daily Sun reports that the governor made this known few hours after he and other aggrieved governors of the APC held a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

The news outlet reports that Amosun met with his loyalists from across the length and breadth of the state to brief them of the outcome of their meeting with the President.

The meeting held at his private residence located inside Ibara GRA, Abeokuta.

According to one of the chieftains of the party who spoke on the condition of anonymity, he said Amosun noted that “rather than the NWC iron out the issue of the governorship, he (Amosun) was asked to share the national and state assemblies tickets with certain group of individuals, who, according to him, did not participate in both the governorship and legislative primaries.”

He added that “the governor berated those he termed ‘Abujaconnection APC, for standing rules of the primary election on its head and produced Abiodun as the party’s candidate instead of Akinlade, who emerged through a direct primary.”

The governor further “made it clear that he could not work with Abiodun, who he said lacked the wherewithal to win a senatorial district, let alone the whole of Ogun State, insisting he would rather bid APC goodbye rather than accept his candidacy.”

Even though he did not give any hint of the next political platform he will join, he made it clear that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was a no-go area for him.
