The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), Sunday said another date would be announced for the conduct of Osun state governorship election after nobody could emerge as a clear winner of the September 22 polls.
Ademola Adeleke of Peoples Democratic Party led with 254, 698 votes while the ruling All Progressives Congress garnered 254,345 to emerge second in the keenly contested election.
The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Joseph Adeola said the total number of valid votes were 767,955 and rejected votes to be 47,843.
He noted that there were 3348 cancelled ballots which is higher than the 353 margin which the PDP had over its rival, the APC and as such, no one could be declared as the clear winner of the election which is in line with the electoral act.
He, therefore, declared the election inconclusive, as he said the exact date for rerun will be announced soonest.
