What high cost of APC nomination forms will do to Nigeria-PDP

The main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wednesday reacted to the high cost of the nomination forms of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for its would-be aspirants in the forthcoming general elections.

Reacting through its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP lamented that the exorbitant cost of the forms will encourage corruption among public office holders.

According to him, looting will be inevitable if any member of the APC records victory at the polls.

“Have you seen @OfficialAPCNg cost of forms? Eeeewo!!!

“It encourages corruption and makes looting mandatory if their members ever won election into any of the offices. #corruptionwithoutlimits,” Ologbodiyan tweeted.

The high cost of nomination forms from the two leading political parties had attracted wide criticisms from Nigerians.

As a way of bowing to pressure, the APC had on Tuesday reduced its price.

Its presidential aspirants will pay N45m, as against N55m fixed by the party last week.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Yekini Nabena, APC said, “Each presidential aspirant will pay N5m for expression of interest form and N40m for the nomination form.”

For a governorship aspirants, it would be “N2.5m for expression of interest form and N20m for nomination form making it N22.5m.”

“For a senatorial ticket, an aspirant will pay N1m for the expression of interest form and N6m for a nomination form.
