UI don emerges NAL President
A renowned linguist and frontline academic, Professor Francis Egbokhare, Friday emerged the President of Nigeria Academy of Letters (NAL).
This was made known in a statement released by the newly elected secretary of the Academy, Professor Ayo Kehinde.
The election took place at the University of Lagos during the 20th convocation and investiture of New Fellows of the academy.
“Other elected officers include the Vice President, Professor Duro Oni; Assistant Secretary, Professor Sunday Ododo; Treasurer, Professor Tunji Oyeshile and General Editor/Chairman Publications Committee, Professor Festus Adesanoye.

“Among other members of the Executive Committee are Professor Emeritus Ayo Bamgbose (Foundation President); Professor Emeritus Ayo Banjo (a Past President) and Professor Olu Obafemi (Immediate Past President.
“Also inaugurated as Officers of the Academy for 2018 to 2020 are four members representing different disciplines within the Arts not already on the Executive Committee: Professors Ayodeji Olukoju (History); Folake Onayemi (Classics); Jonathan Aleru (Archaeology) and Joseph Obinaju (French Studies). A Professor of French, Unionmwan Edebiri, will serve as NAL’s honorary solicitor, while Professor Rotimi Badejo was retained as the Newsletter Editor,” the statement read.
