Acting President Osinbajo sacks Buhari’s kinsman

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo Tuesday sacked the Director-General of the Department of State Service, Lawal Daura.

The Senior Special Assistant to Osinbajo on media and publicity, Laolu Akande made this known via his Twitter handle, @akandeoj.

He wrote, “AgP Yemi Osinbajo has directed the termination of the appointment of the DG of the DSS, Mr. Lawal Musa Daura.

“Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.”

Although there was no reason given for his sack, but many said it wasn’t unconnected to the siege on the country’s legislature on Tuesday by security operatives.

Men of the Nigeria Police and the DSS had on the wee hours of Tuesday locked down the National Assembly despite the fact that leadership of the legislature had fixed a meeting for 12noon on Tuesday.

The Presidency has denied any knowledge on the siege. However, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has fingered the Executive and lawmakers loyal to the President as being behind the invasion.
