The former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has assured Godswill Akpabio that once he defects o All Progressives Congress (APC), all the allegations of corruption against him by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will be dropped.
Omokri was reacting to Akpabio’s visit to President Muhammadu Buhari as the former governor is set to officially defect to the ruling APC.
“Behold Akpabio, all your sins have been forgiven. When @officialEFCC sees the broom, EFCC will Passover!” he wrote via his Twitter handle.
Akpabio is currently the Minority Leader under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party and was a two-term governor of Akwa Ibom under the umbrella party. Insiders’ narratives said the former governor was leaving the PDP solely on irreconcilable differences with current Governor of the state, Udom Emmanuel. Akpabio was the godfather of Emmanuel before they could not get along with each other again.
The EFCC is currently investigating the minority leader for offences bothering on misappropriation of funds during his reign as the governor of his state. However, many Nigerians feared that the institution will overlook Akpabio’s sins once he pitches his tent with the ruling party.
