Veteran Nigerian actor cum politician, Desmond Elliot, Friday emphasised the importance of pidgin English in Nigeria.
Elliot, the honourable member representing Surulere in the Lagos State House of Assembly said this while addressing NYSC Batch ‘B’ corps members at the Imo State permanent Orientation Camp in Eziama Obaire.
The Lagos born thespian urged the corps members to make their talents work for them as he kept alternating between English language and pidgin English.

“When I become (Nigeria’s) president, I’ll make pidgin English Nigeria’s lingua franca,” he said to the applause of the corps members.
While subtly hinting about his presidential ambition, Hon. Elliot traced his trajectory from Nollywood to the Nigerian political terrain.
