The People’s Democratic Party has rejected INEC’s declaration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressive Congress as the winner of the 2018 Ekiti Gubernatorial Elections.
The state’s ruling party made this declaration on its official twitter handle where it called the election a “daylight robbery” and “assault to our democracy”.
“Ekiti State Guber: We reject the falsified results and the declaration of @APCNigeria candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, @kfayemi as the winner of the election,” the tweet read. “(It) is a daylight robbery, a brazen subversion of the will of the people and direct assault on our democracy.”

In the early morning of Sunday, Dr. Fayemi was declared winner having polled 48.9% of the total votes as against his closest rival’s, Professor Olusola Eleka, 44.1%.
The party equally accused INEC of allowing alteration of results at collation centres.
“From the authentic results flowing directly from the polling centers across the state, it is clear that Prof. Olusola Eleka, incontrovertibly won with very comfortable margin over @kfayemi, only for @inecnigeria to allow the alteration of results at the collation centers,” another tweet read.
Many PDP chieftains have also reechoed the voice of the party.
One of them is Kola Ologbondiyan, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, who lamented that 3 years after the APC won the Presidential election on the goodwill of Nigerians, “it depends on guns, billions of naira, snatching of ballot boxes, altering of figures and other acts of electoral corruption to win a state.”
