Football superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has finally opened on his new look, spotting a goatee, in the World Cup tournament.
Ronaldo’s hat-trick for Portugal against Spain handed them a draw in their World Cup opener and his lone goal against Morocco gave his team a much needed victory.
However, many football enthusiasts have been reading different meanings to his new look in the tournament. The Madrid forward now spots a goatee.
Many had assumed that Ronaldo was referring to himself as ‘the GOAT’ (the greatest player of all time).
Some even said he was taunting his arch-rival, Lionel Messi with his action.
However, Ronaldo has given a clear explanation for his action. According to him, the goatee was just a joke between himself and his team mate, Ricardo Quaresma.
“This goatee? It’s a joke I had with [Ricardo] Quaresma,” Ronaldo told Sports Illustrated.
“We were in the sauna [before Friday’s match against Spain] and I started to shave and I left the goatee – I said if I score tomorrow I would leave it for the rest of the tournament.
“And it gave me luck, I scored that game, I scored this one, so it stays.”
