Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola says he is ready to conduct election into all the 30 local councils and the local council development areas recently created by his administration.
According to the Guardian, the governor gave the hint yesterday in Osogbo, the state capital, at a seminar on information management and dissemination organised for information officers in the councils across the state.
The governor, also noted that the debt-profile of the state was still within the management capacity of the state in view of the long gestation period of 20 years agreed with creditors, said political players should gear up for local council polls before the end of the year.
The state government has repeatedly blamed its inability to conduct the council election on a pending litigation initiated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Aregbesola said despite the lamentations by various stakeholders on the debt portfolio of the state, his administration was still able to ensure security, development of roads and school infrastructure across the state.
