sGovernor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state on Monday signed the bill to upgrade the state-owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta to Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology, (MAUST).
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Governor also signed into law, the bill to establish the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia in Yewa area of the state.
The bills were signed during the state’s Executive Council meeting. According to the Governor, the newly-established university will run a multi-campus system and contribute greatly to the development of science and technology in the state.
According to the Speaker of the House, Mr Suraj Adehunbi, the bills received prompt passage in the House because education is the priority of the government of the day. He also opined that the establishment of the institutions will create more jobs.
