The Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, has promised Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, a powerful ICT programme.
The alumnus of the school, who was invited by the National Association of Oke-Ogun Students, NAOOS, OAU Chapter, for their annual celebrations made this pledge while delivering his lecture.
The Minister noted that the promised ICT Programme will instill a better computer knowledge in students of the institution and will also serve as a centre of attraction for the University.
The Saki-born Minister also recounted some of his achievements to his political sub-region in order to give a facelift to the state of education in the sub-region. He said over N250 million was spent in putting up an ICT Centre for The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, TOPS, Saki, This effort, however, he noted that was complemented by the Federal Government who installed 150 computer systems at the centre. The Minister also said that some blocks of classrooms have been built for some high schools in the area.
He concluded by promising not to relent in his efforts in contributing to the educational development of the area in particular, and the nation in general.
